"Adobe Edge Camera"
Abode has introduced a cutting-edge outdoor security camera, the Abode Edge Camera, capable of not only capturing porch pirates but also tracking their escape around corners in a getaway car. This advanced camera, designed for placement in backyards or gardens, boasts an impressive 1.5-mile range.
Operating on Wi-Fi HaLow, a low-power variant of Wi-Fi suitable for IoT devices, each camera connects to a base station inside the home. The base station then links to the at-home router using traditional Wi-Fi. Despite Wi-Fi HaLow's introduction in 2016 with limited adoption, Morse Micro's collaboration with various vendors at CES signals a potential shift, particularly in the development of IP indoor and outdoor security cameras.
Wi-Fi HaLow's appeal lies in its low power consumption and extended reach, making it ideal for applications in remote areas and agriculture, such as cattle monitoring. The Abode Edge Camera is equipped with a 6,000mAh battery, lasting up to a year. Additionally, it features an integrated infrared motion sensor for automatic recording of crucial events and enters a low-power sleep mode during periods of inactivity.
Enhancing its capabilities further, the Abode Edge Camera incorporates AI software from Xalient, an Australian AI vendor. This integration enables facial recognition, object detection, and anomaly recognition for events like car accidents or adverse weather conditions. The facial recognition feature can distinguish between familiar and unknown faces, notifying homeowners of new arrivals in the vicinity. Abode users can access and download up to 10 days of video history, offering a storage duration that, while less than some competitors, is still substantial for effective security monitoring.
